Ballarat Youth Recognition Awards

The young people of Ballarat, along with their their adult mentors, were congratulated and recognised for their achievements at the annual Ballarat City Council’s Youth Recognition awards on Friday, November 7.

As well as recognising the positive work young people are contributing to the local community, a new category was also set up to recognise the work the older people in the community do. 

The Grampians Regional Mentoring Network and Lead On are very proud to have supported the City of Ballarat Youth Recognition Awards this year, sponsoring the Mentors Award. This award was for an adult who demonstrates strong leadership skills and has helped make a difference to young people in their community through positive change on a voluntary basis.  The Mentors Award, a new category this year, was given to the adult who demonstrated strong leadership skills and who has helped make a difference to young people in their community through positive change on a voluntary basis. By demonstrating that it is possible to be a mature and highly valued member of the community, they display to young people that change is possible. 

The nominees for this year’s Mentors Award were: Sam Groom, Rupert Russell, Ryan Griffin, Hayley Chapman, Esther Kelly, Jenni Johnson, Hamish Brown, Joel Davies.

This year’s winner was Jenni Johnson.
